We are going on a 3 week trip to Japan! And it definitely isn’t just so Matt can visit the Pokemon shop. We are excited to explore a county neither of us have been to before, and make some incredible memories together.

Tokyo

We’ll be starting our honeymoon in the bustling metropolis of Tokyo! We’ll be looking to get our fill of nerdy delights at the Pokemon Centre, Studio Ghibli Museum or Akihabara arcades, and we’re hoping to catch some traditional Japanese entertainments like Sumo wrestling and Kabuki theatre. There are some fun and quirky museums nearby to check out too – the Cup Noodle Museum and Kirin Brewery (both in Yokohama).

Kyoto

From the modern to the historic – from the lights and sounds of Tokyo to the gardens and pavilions of Kyoto! More museums abound here – from manga to trains – as well as the monkeys, bamboo groves and moss gardens of Arashiyama. We could also visit the town of Fushimi, famous for its incredible quantity of sake breweries!

Nara & Osaka

More beautiful wildlife awaits us in Nara – including the famous Nara-kōen deer park and the giant Buddha statue in Tōdai-ji. From Nara it’s a short ride to Osaka where we can finish up our adventure by seeing the eccentric billboards of Dōtombori and the whale shark at the Aquarium!
